Foundations of Teaching for Learning 5 - an online course

Commonwealth Education Trust is offering an online course called "Foundations of Teaching for Learning 5: Planning for Teaching and Learning", which is a part of the "Foundations of Teaching for Learning" Specialisation. This 7 week-long course will commence from 24th March, 2014 onwards. You can earn a verified certificate at the end of the course.

About the Course:

In this course features of effective student management and how they support a safe, positive and orderly environment will be considered. You will also explore strategies for communicating with students, colleagues, parents and others. You will be encouraged to reflect on and improve your current practices in planning for teaching and learning.

This course is part of the Foundations of Teaching for Learning programme which is designed to assist people who are currently teaching but have had no formal teacher education improve their understanding of their role and work as a teacher. This set of courses will enhance your knowledge and understanding about learning and teaching and what makes a teacher a professional.

Practical activities are provided to assist you in using what you have learned to improve your teaching practice. While these are optional, it is strongly recommended that you undertake them if at all possible.

Of particular importance is a guide to the development of a portfolio to help you organise and document your thinking about what you have learned. In addition, you may be able to use the portfolio to access other opportunities in the future.

Judy Halbert, Linda Kaser and John MacBeath will be the course instructors.

The course will have a workload of 4-6 hours of work / week.

It will be taught in English and the subtitles will be available in English.
