XLRI Delhi-NCR has introduced a novel initiative with the inauguration of a school dedicated to automobile design and management. Dubbed as INDEA - Indian School for Design of Automobiles, this new establishment aims to cultivate talented designers and design managers specializing in the automotive sector.

Set to commence operations by the conclusion of 2025, the school is the result of collaboration between XLRI and Avik Chattopadhyay, an alumnus of the institution and a seasoned professional in the automotive industry.
The Master's program in Automobile Design and Management, slated to span one year, will admit 20-25 students annually from various graduate schools, selected through a rigorous screening process.

INDEA is structured to foster a fresh cohort of automobile designers and design managers adept at navigating the nuances of the automotive sector, crafting vehicles that align with shifting consumer preferences and sustainability imperatives," he elaborated.
As per the official statement, INDEA's foundational principles will revolve around three key tenets: striking a balance between intuition and industrial acumen, fostering robust industry interactions, and providing exposure to global insights and practices. Additionally, INDEA will benefit from the guidance of esteemed mentors, including automotive journalist Gautam Sen, former Supreme Court Justice Indira Banerjee, and former Director of Engineering at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, IV Rao.
