Winter-bound Schools to Conduct CBSE Practical Exams Early: Detailed Guidelines Released

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has rolled out the schedule for practical exams for Class 10 and 12 students in regions impacted by harsh winter conditions. These exams will be held from November 5 to December 5, 2024, a shift made to accommodate schools that close during severe winter months. This adjustment ensures students in these areas won't face disruptions and have enough time to complete their assessments before their schools shut down.

Why This Change Matters?

This update is crucial for students gearing up for their board exams. Not only does it give them ample time to prepare, but it also allows schools to follow a clear, structured process for conducting practical exams, projects, and internal assessments. Students and educators can access all the essential guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on the official CBSE portal, cbse.gov.in, ensuring transparency and preparation clarity.

Guidelines for Winter-bound Schools

CBSE has laid out a few key instructions for schools in colder regions:

  • Schools must compile a final list of candidates from the official List of Candidates (LOC) submitted to the Board. Only these students will be eligible to participate in the practical exams.
  • Schools must coordinate with CBSE's Regional Offices to appoint external examiners and observers.
  • Once exams are completed, schools must send practical exam answer books to their regional offices promptly to avoid delays.

What About Schools Not Affected by Winter?

For schools in non-winter-bound areas, practical exams will follow their regular schedule. These assessments are expected to begin on January 1, 2025, allowing all CBSE-affiliated schools to operate within the same academic guidelines.

Upcoming CBSE Board Exams 2025

Students across the country are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the Class 10 and 12 board exam dates. The exams are anticipated to start on February 15, 2025. This announcement will help students and teachers finalize their preparations and ensure a well-organized study plan leading up to the exams.

CBSE's thoughtful rescheduling of the practical exams highlights its commitment to ensuring all students-regardless of where they live-have equal opportunities for success. By recognizing the challenges winter-bound schools face, the Board has demonstrated its focus on student welfare and academic integrity.

In line with this, CBSE has also introduced additional measures to ensure a smooth and secure examination process. This includes mandatory CCTV surveillance at all exam centers to maintain transparency and fairness. These initiatives help build a fair and equal platform for students to excel.

To support students further, CBSE is encouraging the use of sample papers and study materials available on its academic portal. These resources can be incredibly helpful in preparing for both practical and theory exams. Staying updated with CBSE announcements and guidelines will also ensure that students are well-prepared for any changes or updates as they head into the board exam season.
