The department offers a four year degree course leading to the degree of B.Text (E). The first year of all engineering branches is common. In the 2nd, 3rd & final year the students are exposed to theory & practicals of spinning- conversion of fibres to yarns, weaving & knitting- conversion of yarns to fabric, chemical processing- bleaching, dyeing, printing & finishing of fabrics, textile testing- testing from raw material to the finished product at various stages of manufacturing process, textile fibre- the study of the structure & properties of the basic element of textiles i.e. various fibres, man made fibre technology- manufacturing of fibers.
The department has well equipped laboratories with qualified and experienced teaching faculty and supporting staff. It provides testing facility and consultancy services to the textile industries situated in and around Akola district.

DKTE Society's Textile and Engineering Institute, IchalKaranji

Ichalkaranji, popularly known as the "Manchester of Maharashtra State", is one of the most prominent textile centers of the country. The department was established in the year 1982 with diploma course in textile (DTM). Textile degree courses (TT/MMTT) started in the year 1983, also TPE and TC courses in 1984 and 1987 respectively. The department is preparing the work force to face the challenges of textile industries by imparting upto date knowledge of spinning, weaving, garmenting, knitting, testing, fashion, fibre science, dyeing, printing, finishing, chemical testing & computer colour matching. Research based, post graduate course M.Text in Textile Technology was started in 1997, Textile Chemistry in 2006, Technical Texiles in 2004.

Giani Zail Singh, Punjab Technical University Campus, Bathinda was the first technical institute established by government of Punjab. The foundation stone was laid by Sidharth Shankar Ray, then Governor of Punjab in 1989. It started with the name as Government Engineering College, Bathinda, and later got the name of Giani Zail Singh College of Engineering & Technology, Bathinda in 1992 after ex-president of India in 1992 and was made fully autonomous.
This College has been made as constituent college of Punjab Technical University in 2011 with the aim to put emphasis on Post Graduate studies and Doctoral Research. It is now with the objective to play pivotal role in producing quality technical manpower being the second campus of Punjab Technical University.
