Website for Indian, Australian students launched

New Delhi, December 24: The Australian High Commission has launched a website that will help Indian and Australian students looking for study opportunities in each other's countries, a statement here said Tuesday.

Introduced by Australia's acting High Commissioner Bernard Philip, the online database is an initiative of the Australia-India Education Council and has been funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and implemented by Jamia Milia Islamia.

The site will assist Indian students in finding Australian university courses, recognised for credit by Indian universities, and will also help Australian students interested in studying in India, the statement said.

"The database can be searched by location, institution or course, which will help students from both countries to find the information they need," the high commissioner said. "This will further reinforce the strong education links between Australia and India."

The database can be accessed at australiaindiacredittransfer.org. The website was launched just ahead of Australian students' visit to India under the Australian Government's New Colombo Plan (NCP) in 2015.

The $100 million programme enables Australian undergraduate students to undertake part of their course in an Asian country, as well as accessing internship opportunities during their stay.

India is one of the most popular destinations for Australian students participating in the NCP, with close to 350 students heading to institutions across India for a short-term study next year.
