The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education has proposed the introduction of a preparatory course for Class 10 students interested in pursuing the new subjects of Applied Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security at the higher secondary level. This short-term course aims to provide a foundation for students planning to study subjects like Modern Computer Applications, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Cyber Security in higher secondary classes.

According to WBCHSE president Chiranjib Bhattacharya, the syllabi for existing subjects such as Modern Computer Application and Computer Science have been updated to ensure relevance. He emphasized the need for a preparatory course for interested Class 10 students in 2024, suggesting a 'Bootstrap Programme' to provide them with essential computer skills.
He recommended utilizing the months of April and May for this course before the commencement of the main higher secondary curriculum. The results of the higher secondary exams, conducted in mid-February, are anticipated to be announced within 90 days. Bhattacharya suggested that theory classes could be conducted either in person or online, depending on the school's preference. In instances where a school cannot arrange the course, they can distribute the study materials provided by the council to interested students. Schools interested in conducting the course can email [email protected] with the required details, as outlined by Bhattacharya.
