VIT University's Bangalore campus will start functioning from 2015

VIT to open Bangalore campus from 2015

The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University's campus at Bangalore will start functioning from the year 2015.

The new campus will offer admission to engineering (B.Tech) programmes, from the next academic year 2015-16.

"The state has passed legislation required and we are now constructing the university. We are confident of setting up the facilities in a year," University chancellor G Viswanathan.

University is conducting VITEEE entrance examination for admission to B.Tech programmes for Vellore and Chennai campuses.

The new campus will also accept VITEEE scores for admission to B.Tech programmes.

For the year 2014, around 1.94 lakh candidates have registered for VITEEE entrance examination.

In 2013, 1.66 lakh candidates had registered for VITEEE.

Currently, the University is providing admission to 4,100 engineering seats across the two campuses.

TN students are apprehensive about taking competitive entrance exams. Fewer students from here take the exam than from other states. The candidates from TN are mostly CBSE students and most are from Chennai," Viswanathan said.
