The Uttar Pradesh government has directed all the educational institutions including schools and colleges in the state to resume online classes from May 20, 2021, onwards for the students so that they do not miss out on their curriculum amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the online classes won't continue for primary classes.
Earlier on May 10, the UP government had announced to suspend online classes for all the educational institutions due to the rising coronavirus cases.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Dinesh Sharma stated that earlier, the academic work in schools was halted from April to May 20, which will be considered as summer vacation and the online classes in schools will be held from May 20.
The state government is yet to any issue notice regarding the resumption of physical classes in schools and universities.
In the interim, in view of the rising Covid-19 cases in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government on 15 May 2021 decided to extend the partial curfew in the state till May 24, 2021.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a virtual meeting with the state top officials to review the Covid-10 situation after which the decision was taken.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh recorded around 10,682 new Covid-19 cases and 311 deaths. The total case count has reached to 16,19,645 and the death toll to 17,546.
