The board examination dates for students of classes X and XII in Uttar Pradesh has been announced. The timetable will be scheduled between March 16 and April 21 according to official sources.
It is also confirmed that the approval for the dates has been granted by the Election Commission that had earlier ordered to defer the board exam dates as it clashed with the election dates.
According to a report from IANS, an official said that for fifteen days, the High School (Class X) examinations will go on while the class XII (Intermediate) exams will be spread out in 25 days.
According to Chairman of the UP Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, Amarnath Verma, details of the exams such as timings are being worked out and will be announced soon.
Usually, these exams are scheduled between February and March but this year due to the assembly polls, it was rescheduled and shifted to mid-March. The exams will end in April. Also, earlier the Board had announced on December 8 last year the schedule of the examinations from February 16 to March 20. These dates were not approved by the EC that asked to defer it.
Around 26.24 lakh students are expected to be present for an intermediate exam while 34.4 lakh students will take the high school exam. The total number of students appearing for the UP Board exam has however come down from previous years and has this year reduced by 63,882.
The quality of these exams have also declined in the past due to complaints of mass copying. In order to avoid this, the Board this time is making arrangements to ensure minimum copying, an official said while making the announcement that 31 districts have been declared sensitive this time. These places include Sambhal, Hardoi, Shahjahanpur, Moradabad, Gonda, Agra, Aligarh, Haters, Etah, Mainpuri, Firozabad, Azamgarh, Sultanpur, Bhadohi, Allahabad, Kanpur among others.
