The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has officially commenced the registration process for the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2026. Candidates aspiring to apply for various Group C government posts in Uttar Pradesh can now submit their online applications through the official website, upsssc.gov.in.
UPSSSC PET 2026 Registration Begins
The UPSSSC PET 2026 serves as the qualifying examination for recruitment to several state government vacancies. Candidates who qualify in the PET become eligible to apply for the mains examinations conducted for different posts notified by the commission.
According to the official schedule, the online application process has started and will remain open until September 1, 2026. Candidates will also be able to make corrections to their submitted application forms until September 8, 2026 through the online correction window.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the UPSSSC PET 2026 must satisfy the eligibility conditions prescribed by the commission.
For age eligibility, applicants must be between 18 and 40 years as on July 1, 2026. Relaxation in the upper age limit will be applicable to candidates belonging to reserved categories as per Uttar Pradesh Government rules.
Applicants must also possess the minimum educational qualification mentioned in the official notification issued by UPSSSC before submitting their applications.
Application Fee
The application fee varies according to the candidate's category:
- General/OBC: ₹185
- SC/ST: ₹95
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD): ₹25
The fee can be paid online through Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or SBI Challan.
Why UPSSSC PET is Important
The Preliminary Eligibility Test is the gateway for recruitment to numerous Group C posts in various Uttar Pradesh government departments. Scores obtained in PET are used to shortlist candidates for the mains examinations of several recruitments, including posts such as Lekhpal, Junior Assistant, Clerk, Forest Guard, and many others notified by UPSSSC.
Qualifying PET does not guarantee a job but is an essential requirement for participating in future recruitment examinations conducted by the commission.
