UPSC IFS Prelims Exam 2024 Notification is OUT at upsc.gov.in; Know how to apply

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has initiated the application process for the UPSC Indian Forest Service (IFS) preliminary exam 2024. As per the recently issued notification, candidates must complete their applications by 6 pm on March 5. The exam is scheduled to take place on May 26.

Interested individuals can submit their applications via the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in before the specified deadline. In an official notice, the commission stated, "The number of vacancies to be filled based on the results of the examination is expected to be approximately 150. The number of vacancies is subject to change."

Steps to apply for the UPSC IFS 2024 Prelims Exam

  • Begin by visiting the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in.
  • On the homepage, locate and click on the UPSC IFS notification link.
  • Download the PDF file containing all relevant exam dates and details.
  • Access the application form through another provided link.
  • Register yourself and complete the application form.
  • Pay the required application fees and upload necessary documents. Then, submit the form.
  • It is recommended to download and keep a hard copy of this page for future reference.

Minimum Educational Qualification Required

For eligibility to appear in the UPSC Indian Forest Service Examination, a candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree with at least one of the following subjects: Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Zoology. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry, or Engineering from a university incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India, or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament, or declared deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

Age Limit

As per the detailed notification from the previous year, a candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have exceeded 32 years as of August 1, 2023, meaning they must have been born between August 2, 1991, and August 1, 2002. Selection Process

Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will undergo a selection process comprising a Preliminary Written Exam, Mains Written Exam, Interview, Document Verification, and Medical Examination.
