UPSC CSE Mains Exam 2025: Reporting Time, Documents & Exam Day Guidelines

The UPSC CSE Mains 2025 is one of the most important stages of the Civil Services Examination, testing candidates' knowledge, analytical ability, and presentation skills. As per the latest UPSC guidelines, aspirants must carefully follow the reporting time and entry rules. Candidates are required to report at the examination venue at least one hour before the scheduled time to ensure smooth entry and verification.

The commission has made it mandatory for candidates to carry their UPSC Mains Admit Card 2025, along with a valid government-issued photo ID (such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, Passport, Driving License, or Voter ID). Without these documents, candidates will not be allowed entry into the exam hall.

Additionally, aspirants must bring only permitted stationery such as black ballpoint pens for writing the answers. Items like smartwatches, mobile phones, calculators, and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited. Violation of these rules may lead to disqualification.

The UPSC has also highlighted the importance of adhering to exam discipline. Candidates should follow the seating arrangement, avoid any form of malpractice, and maintain decorum inside the hall. Since the Mains exam consists of nine descriptive papers, time management and clear answer writing will play a crucial role in success.

Other key instructions include:

  • Carefully reading the question paper before attempting.
  • Strictly adhering to the word limit in essay-type answers.
  • Ensuring neat and structured presentation for better evaluation.
  • Carrying extra copies of essential documents to avoid last-minute issues.

Candidates are also advised to keep track of traffic, weather conditions, and transport availability to avoid delays in reaching the exam centre. With proper preparation, strict adherence to rules, and a calm mindset, aspirants can confidently appear for the UPSC Mains 2025 and move closer to their dream of becoming a civil servant.
