UPSC CSE 2025: Age, Caste, and Education Documents Now Mandatory for Application, Details Here

In a significant move to enhance transparency and streamline the civil services selection process, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced an important update for the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025. Candidates will now be required to submit evidence supporting their age and reservation claims at the time of application. This shift departs from the previous practice where such documentation was submitted only after passing the preliminary exam, ensuring a more robust verification process from the start.

UPSC CSE 2025: New Document Submission Rule

Why the Change?

The decision to require upfront documentation follows a controversy involving Puja Khedkar, a former IAS probationer, who was accused of fraudulently claiming OBC and disability quotas during her selection for the civil services. While Khedkar denied all allegations, the case prompted the government to enforce stricter checks on eligibility at the initial application stage, to prevent any future misuse of reserved category benefits.
