UPSC CSAT 2014: Important Instructions

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), New Delhi has issued an important instructions to the candidates appearing for CSAT (Civil Service Aptitude Test) Civil Services Preliminary Examination on August 24, 2014.

Candidates have to know the following changes have been made in the scheme of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2014 as per amendments made by the Government.

1. Both Paper-I and Paper-II of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2014 are to be conducted on August 24, 2014 will be of two hours duration each.

2. The questions on English language comprehension skills (of Class X level) contained in each set of Test Booklets of Paper-II are not to be attempted, as these questions shall not be evaluated for gradation or merit. The candidates are, therefore, advised not to attempt questions on English language comprehension skills for which Hindi translation has not been given in the respective Test Booklets of Paper-II.

3. The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2014, shall thus comprise of two compulsory papers of which Paper-I will be of 200 marks and Paper II will be of 200 marks, minus the maximum marks allocated to the questions on English language comprehension skills.

4. Final merit for qualifying the candidates for the Civil Services (Main) Written Examination will be drawn by using the aggregate marks obtained in Paper-I out of 200 marks and marks obtained in Paper-II out of 200 marks, minus the maximum marks allocated to the questions on English Language Comprehension skills (i.e. those questions in Paper-II for which Hindi translation has not been given).

Extra time for visually impaired students:
All the Visually Impaired Category candidates appearing in the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2014 on August 24, 2014 (Sunday ), will be allowed an extra time of 20 minutes per hour for both Paper-I and Paper-II of this examination. Thus, the Visually Impaired category candidates will be allowed an extra time of 40 minutes for Paper-I and also an extra time of 40 minutes for Paper-II of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2014, which will be over and above the duration of 2 hours per paper applicable to all other candidates.
