The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has issued a notification and commenced registration for the Civil Services Preliminary examination (UPSC CSE Prelims 2024) today, February 14. Interested candidates can access the notification on upsc.gov.in and upsconline.nic.in. Registration for the Indian Forest Services (IFS) Prelims through CSE has also commenced.

The application window is set to close on March 5. Approximately 1,056 vacancies will be filled through UPSC CSE 2024.
UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam 2024: How to apply
To apply online, candidates can follow the steps outlined below:
- Visit the official website of UPSC at upsc.gov.in.
- Click on the UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam 2024 link available on the home page.
- A new page will open where candidates need to complete the registration process.
- Upon successful registration, login to the account.
- Fill out the application form and make the payment of application fees.
- Click on submit and download the page.
- Retain a hard copy of the form for future reference.
Exam Pattern
The Civil Services Examination comprises two stages - the Preliminary examination, which consists of objective-type questions and serves as a screening test for the Mains round, and the Mains round, which includes a written examination and interviews (personality tests).
UPSC CSE Prelims 2024 Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to appear for the UPSC CSE Prelims 2024 exam, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Nationality: Indian
- Age Limit: 21 years to 32 years (with age relaxation applicable for reserved category candidates)
- Qualification: Graduation
