UPSC announced the dates of Civil Services- Main exam

UPSC has announced the dates of Civil Services- Main examination. Around 16,000 students will be sitting for this examination which will be conducted in December 2013.

Civil Services Main examination will be held from 1st of December to 5th December 2013. UPSC will be conducting this examination and candidates who have already qualified in prelims, are eligible to give the exam.

However, UPSC has changed the pattern of the examination this year. According to the new pattern-

1. Number of papers

Now, there will be four general studies papers. Each containing 250 marks.

2. Optional subjects will be given less weightage

Now, two optional papers carry 250 marks each. Whereas, earlier these two optional papers were of 600 marks each.

3. Additional paper of ethics

This section will contain case studies that will test the candidate's analytical and decision making skills.

Important:

Students taking the exams in December 2013 will be the first to take the new format. It is extremely important that students read the instruction carefully.

Students should not exceed or go under the word limit. It is important that they should stick to word limit.
