The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has started the online application process for 12,405 Assistant Teacher vacancies under Advertisement No. 05/2026.

The recruitment covers Assistant Teacher (Urban) posts under the Basic Education Department and Assistant Teacher Attached to Primary posts in aided non-government secondary schools under the Secondary Education Department.
The online registration process began on September 16, 2026, following publication of the notification on September 15. Candidates must complete the mandatory One-Time Registration (OTR) before filling out the recruitment application. The last date for depositing the application fee is October 15, 2026, while the correction facility will remain available until October 19, 2026. The written examination is scheduled for December 3 and 4, 2026.
The 12,405 vacancies are divided between two recruitment categories.

The 897 attached-primary vacancies include 473 posts in boys' schools and 424 posts in girls' schools.

The eligibility requirements differ according to the post. For the Assistant Teacher (Urban) posts, candidates need a bachelor's degree along with the prescribed teacher-training qualification, such as BTC, D.El.Ed or other recognised equivalent qualifications. A valid TET qualification is also required.
For the Assistant Teacher Attached to Primary posts, candidates are required to meet the prescribed graduation and teacher-training qualifications and have passed the relevant Class 1 to 5 TET conducted by the Government of Uttar Pradesh or the Government of India.

For the Urban Assistant Teacher posts, candidates should generally be between 21 and 40 years of age as on July 1, 2026. The examination fee is ₹1,000 for General/Unreserved, OBC, EWS and other applicable categories, ₹500 for SC/ST candidates, and ₹300 for candidates with benchmark disabilities. The fee is to be paid online through the prescribed application system.
