The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has released the Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 notification under Advertisement No. 04/2026. The recruitment drive aims to fill 1,936 Assistant Professor vacancies in co-educational and women's degree colleges across Uttar Pradesh under the Higher Education Department.

The official notification was issued on September 8, 2026, and the online application process has started. Eligible candidates can submit their applications until October 7, 2026. The same date is also the deadline for depositing the prescribed application fee. Candidates must complete the mandatory One Time Registration (OTR) process before applying for the posts.

The recruitment covers 1,936 Assistant Professor posts in degree colleges across Uttar Pradesh. The selected candidates will receive the Level-10 pay scale, ranging from ₹57,700 to ₹1,82,400, as prescribed under the applicable rules.
The maximum age limit is 62 years, calculated as on July 1, 2026. Age relaxation will be provided to eligible candidates according to the applicable government rules.
Candidates applying for the Assistant Professor posts should have a Master's degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks from a recognised institution, subject to the conditions specified in the recruitment notification.
Applicants are also required to have qualified NET, SLET or SET, or hold a PhD degree as prescribed under the recruitment requirements. Candidates should carefully check the subject-wise qualifications before submitting their applications.
Candidates belonging to the UR/General, OBC and EWS categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹2,000. The fee is ₹1,500 for SC and ST candidates, while PwD candidates have to pay ₹1,000. The prescribed fee must be paid through the online mode.
The selection process will include a written examination, interview or personality test, and document verification.
The written examination will carry 360 marks and consist of 120 objective-type multiple-choice questions. Of these, 30 questions will be based on General Knowledge, while the remaining 90 questions will be related to the concerned subject.
Candidates who qualify the written examination will proceed to the subsequent selection stages as prescribed by UPESSC. Applicants are advised to keep their academic and other supporting documents ready for verification.
Candidates should first complete the mandatory OTR registration and then access the UPESSC application portal. They should enter their personal and educational details, upload the required documents, pay the applicable application fee and submit the completed form.
After submission, candidates should download and preserve a copy of the application form and payment receipt for future reference. With the examination scheduled for November 19 and 20, 2026, applicants should complete the application process before the October 7 deadline and regularly check the official UPESSC portal for further updates.
