Earlier, the Delhi government had ordered schools to remain shut till October 5 across the national capital, while permitting classes to be conducted through online mode, which has become the new normal post the outbreak of COVID pandemic.
The announcement by Delhi government comes close on the heels of the Union Home Ministry (MHA) releasing Unlock 5.0 guidelines for reopening of schools and colleges in a phased manner.
However, the decision to reopen schools and educational institutions in a graded manner after October 15 in consultation with the management of concerned school/institution is entirely left with the States and Union Territories as per the Centre's new Unlock 5.0 guidelines.
The national capital currently has 2.88 lakh COVID cases with a death toll 5,472 caused due to the pandemic.
