University College Dublin announces €400,000 scholarships
New Delhi, December 19, 2014: University College Dublin (UCD) is delighted to announce the launch of the 2015 UCD scholarships for Indian undergraduate and postgraduate students. Of particular note in the scholarship fund are the 4 full scholarships in recognition of V. V. Giri, the fourth President of India, who studied law in UCD from 1913 to 1916.
University College Dublin (UCD) is Ireland's Global University. Established in 1854 UCD is Ireland's largest and most international university. There are over 27,000 students including 6,000 international students from 127 countries studying in UCD. A public, government-funded institution UCD receives the highest levels of research funding in the country and is ranked within the top 1% of world universities.
UCD can objectively be considered the Irish University with greatest profile in India and today UCD is the most popular university for Indian students studying in Ireland. There are currently 308 Indian students studying in UCD.
UCD's commitment to attracting top Indian students is evident in its scholarship offering which is the largest offered by an Irish university along with their regular visits to India, importantly with key academics and engagement with Indian university partners such as the University of Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIM Bangalore and University of Baroda amongst others.
The following scholarships will be available to Indian students applying to UCD. This outlines the minimum scholarship fund available, it is estimated the fund will rise as the year progresses.
1. UCD International Scholarships
V.V. Giri Scholarships (Graduate)
- 4 x 100% V.V. Giri Scholarships. These are awarded on application to the top Indian students applying for postgraduate courses*
Graduate (Taught Masters) Scholarships
- 5 x 50% Global Graduate Scholarships. These are merit based tuition scholarships for Indian students applying for postgraduate courses*
- 100 merit based tuition scholarships worth €3,000 each specifically for Indian students applying for postgraduate courses* (applied to applicants who accept offers in first come, first served basis)
- U21 Delhi University Scholarships-UCD is offering tuition scholarships worth €3,000 each specifically for Indian students graduated from Delhi University, UCD's Universitas 21 partner, applying for postgraduate courses* (guaranteed)
Undergraduate Scholarships
- 1 50% Undergraduate Global Excellence Scholarship. This is a merit based tuition scholarship.*
- 5 merit based tuition scholarships worth €5,000 each for undergraduate students*
- 10 merit based tuition scholarships worth €3,000 each for undergraduate students*
The deadline for applications is 31st March 2015. Students are encouraged to apply early.
(*clinical programmes are not eligible for these scholarships)
2. The Government of Ireland Scholarships for India
- 1 Government of Ireland scholarships was awarded in the 2014-2015 academic year to an Indian student, who had successfully gained a place on a 1 year Taught Masters Programme.
- The scholarship entitled the successful student to a full tuition fee waiver at UCD, as well as a stipend of €10,000 to cover living expenses for the year.
- They hope to offer 2 fully funded Government of Ireland scholarships to Indian students who successfully gain a place on a 1 year taught Masters Programme in UCD for 2015/16 programmes.
Details of the Government of Ireland scholarships will be confirmed in February 2015.
3. UCD Michael Smurfit School of Business
- Ireland top Business School is offering 6 x 50% merit based tuition scholarships specifically for Indian students applying to MSc Programmes in the UCD Smurfit School of Business MBA and PhD scholarships available.
