The University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada offers merit-based scholarship to Indian students, who wish to join for undergraduate (UG) degree programmes in the university.
The University will allocate a quarter of a million dollars in non-public funds for the scholarship.
The University will offers 11 outstanding scholarships to international students worth $10,000 for each student and 5 major international entrance scholarships worth $28,000 and $7,000 per year, for a period of 4 years to the Indian students.

As per the reports, the new scholarship scheme is a stepping stone to UBC's commitment to create a wonderful opportunity for meritorious Indian students to pursue their education in Canada at the university.
Canadian Universities have been vying for Indian UG students in a big way and Indian students are also increasingly opting for Canada as a destination for higher studies. Canadian colleges and polytechnics are aligned to the needs of the labor market and their competency-based teaching approach prepares students to be productive in the workplace after graduation.
Apart from this, Indian students may also have summer jobs during their vacations. Altogether, students go to Canada on student visa and they can work for three years after completion of their PG studies. After that, they can apply for residency permit based on their job. Once they acquire a residency permit, their tuition fee becomes similar to local students.
