Universities to introduce Tribal language courses

The Tribal language courses will be taught in the Universities across the country from the year 2015.

Tripura governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya said, "Four prominent universities in India would each introduce a chair for an important personality of northeast India to launch courses in tribal languages."

He said, "Initially, certificate course would be introduced from January 26, 2015 and subsequently diploma, degree and post-graduate courses on tribal languages would be started."

The universities that would introduce tribal language are:

  • SNDT Women's University
  • Mumbai University
  • Delhi University
  • Karnataka University

The students of tribals and non-tribals are eligible to learn Tribal language in these universities.
