UGC Gives Directions to Varsities for International Yoga Day 2017

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed varsities to commemorate it with celebrations and meaningful activities to spread awareness and knowledge about yoga.

What are the events that the UGC has directed?

The higher education authority has directed the varsities to conduct a lot of programs and send reports, along with videos and photographs of it for the International Yoga Day. In April, the UGC had asked the universities to insure the involvement of the authorities in very 'elaborate training programmes on common Yoga protocol for mass yoga performance as well as discourses, lectures and talks by eminent Yoga experts'.

List of suggestions by UGC for International Yoga Day

  • Involve a very elaborate training programme on Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) for Mass Yoga performance as well as discourses, lectures and talks by eminent Yoga experts.
  • Ensuring the maximum participation of the students on for the event and further that the students should be trained at least for a month.
  • Observe IDY on 21st June, 2017 and participate in the Yoga demonstrations along with organization of quiz competition, yoga trainings, etc.
  • Organize Yoga workshops for college teachers and to introduce yoga programme in annual festivals of colleges and universities to promote yoga among youth.
