UGC: Display info on admission, fee on the university's website

Allahabad: With admissions are going on in all the universities, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed vice-chancellors to upload all the information related to admission process, fee structure and accreditation ranking on the official websites of the universities.

 

UGC has taken this decision following the increase in number of accusations by parents and students with regard to tuition fee and other expenses.

The new guidelines by UGC enable student to take decision before joining the course. Besides, it also brings in transparency in institutions of higher education.

UGC asks varsities to display info on website

Speaking to TOI UGC secretary Jaspal S Sandhu said that the VCs are directed to ensure the profile of teachers, research output of institutions and placement profile of students passing out of the institutes to display on university's website.

"UGC has also asked the universities to provide information on departments recognised as centres of excellence by funding agencies and available scholarships. The institutions have also been directed to post details of students' grievance mechanism, research output and academic calendar on their websites," he added.

The letter has also pointed out on the availability of student-centric facilities. The details should include information about hostels, transportation, relevant approval of statutory bodies and name of nodal officers for student's facilitation services.

Universities have also been asked to submit the detailed report by the end of the month.
