UGC Declares 20 Universities as Fake across India

The University Grants Commission (UGC) classified 20 universities "fake" and unable to bestow any degree on Wednesday, with Delhi having the most at eight."The UGC has learned that a number of institutions are awarding degrees in violation of the provisions of the UGC Act." Degrees conferred by such universities are neither accepted nor valid for further education or employment. "These universities do not have the authority to confer any degree," UGC secretary Manish Joshi stated.

The UGC has seen various universities operating in violation of the UGC Act, and students are receiving degrees from these schools. The Commission has distributed a list of fake universities.
