The number of students turn out for the admission interview in St Stephen's College, has dipped for the academic year 2015.
The most sought after subjects like English and Mathematics also seen the dip in the number of turnouts.
Simultaneous admissions in other colleges of DU university has led to drop in turnouts, says one of the teachers from the St Stephen's.
While in the Department of Mathematics 5 students students have been called for every seat. "We are calling 10 students every hour and getting about six-seven. But we expect more to come on Monday," a teacher said.
However, the English department has completed the interview process, in which 10% less students appeared for the interview compared to the last year.
For the Economics subjects, however, the interview turnout was 80%, it has also witnessed 5% to 10 % increase in the academic year.
Pointing that St Stephen's were held too close to DU's common admission dates English department head, Karen Gabriel said that "Once the candidates fill in their fees at a college, they become reluctant to withdraw. The system for transferring isn't really motivating."
The interviews for English (Honours) were held on June 26 and 27 has overlapped with first-list admissions on both days. "Students who had already submitted their certificates at other colleges were very worried and depressed. But once they knew they could bring copies they were relieved and did come." added Gabriel
