The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has released the Group 4 Notification 2026 for the Combined Civil Services Examination-IV (Group IV Services). Through Advertisement No. 747 and Notification No. 11/2026, the commission has announced 6,574 tentative vacancies across various Tamil Nadu government departments, boards, corporations and services.

The notification was issued on October 6, 2026, and eligible candidates can apply online through tnpsc.gov.in until November 5, 2026, up to 11:59 PM.
The TNPSC Group 4 written examination is scheduled to be conducted on January 10, 2027, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The application correction window will be available from November 9 to November 11, 2026.

The vacancy figure is tentative, and candidates should refer to the detailed notification for the complete post-wise, service-wise and reservation-related breakup.
Educational qualifications differ according to the post. SSLC or the prescribed Minimum General Educational Qualification is sufficient for many posts, including several Junior Assistant and clerical positions. Candidates applying for Typist and Steno Typist posts must meet the prescribed typewriting or shorthand qualifications, along with other applicable technical requirements. Some posts require a degree, while Forest Guard and Forest Guard with Driving Licence positions carry additional educational and physical requirements.
The age limit is calculated as of July 1, 2026, and varies by post and category. For many posts, the minimum age is 18 years, while VAO and certain forest posts require candidates to be at least 21 years old. The upper age limit and relaxations differ across categories and individual posts.
The examination will be a single-stage objective written test conducted in OMR mode. The paper will contain 200 questions carrying 300 marks and will be held for three hours. It includes the Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test, General Studies, and Aptitude and Mental Ability sections.
Selection will be based on written-examination performance followed by certificate verification and counselling, wherever applicable. Candidates applying for posts with additional physical or technical requirements must satisfy those conditions.
Candidates are required to have adequate knowledge of Tamil as prescribed by TNPSC. The requirement can generally be met through Tamil studied at the SSLC, HSC or degree level, or through the prescribed Second Class Language Test in Tamil within the stipulated period after appointment.
The Persons Studied in Tamil Medium (PSTM) reservation provisions will also apply as prescribed in the notification. Candidates claiming PSTM benefits must satisfy the required conditions and produce the relevant certificates.
Candidates should visit tnpsc.gov.in, complete the One Time Registration (OTR) if they do not already have a valid registration, and log in to access the Group 4 application. They must enter the required personal and educational details, select the applicable post, upload documents, pay the examination fee and submit the form before the deadline.
