Tamil Nadu SET Exam Pattern

Paper I (Common for All)

  • Number of Questions: 50 MCQs

  • Content: General Knowledge, Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude, and other skills

Paper II (Subject-Specific)

  • Number of Questions: 100 MCQs
  • Duration: 2 Hours
  • Marking Scheme: 2 marks for each correct answer, no negative marking
  • Content: Topics from your chosen postgraduate subject (refer to the TNSET list of subjects)

Selection Criteria

The general selection process for TNSET involves:

Minimum qualifying marks: Different cut-offs for General Category and Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates. You need to secure minimum marks in both Paper I and Paper II to qualify.

Merit List: Based on the marks obtained in both papers, a merit list is prepared for each subject.

Eligibility for Assistant Professor Posts: Qualifying in TNSET makes you eligible to apply for Assistant Professor posts in Tamil Nadu universities and colleges.
