TN Govt. Instructs Schools to Avoid Special Classes During Summer Vacation

To shield children from the effects of the heatwave, Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena instructed schools not to hold extra courses during the ongoing vacation period. Meena emphasized the need to follow this direction in a statement released on Thursday, saying district collectors should make sure schools follow it.

There's a concern that people may become sick from the heat because a lot of Tamil Nadu is experiencing blistering temperatures and heatwave-like conditions. Meena's official announcement states that authorities have been informed beforehand of the steps that must be taken to manage this scenario.

Meena reiterated that till May 16, temperatures in many Tamil Nadu regions might rise beyond 40 degrees Celsius. He mentioned the summer forecast from the India Meteorological Department, which projects maximum temperatures and heatwave conditions across the Indian peninsula, including Tamil Nadu.

It is recommended that district collectors keep an eye on and make sure that these rules are followed to protect the children's health and safety over the summer.
