The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations (TN DGE) in Chennai has officially announced the much-anticipated dates for the 2025 board exams. Students preparing for the Higher Secondary (Class 12) and Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Class 10) exams can now mark their calendars, as the exams are scheduled to take place from March to April 2025. During a recent press conference, Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi shared the detailed exam timetable, sparking a wave of preparations across the state. The Class 12 exams are set to begin on March 3, 2025, and conclude on March 25, 2025, while the Class 10 exams will take place from March 28, 2025, to April 15, 2025. Additionally, the Class 11 exams are slated to occur between March 5, 2025, and March 27, 2025.

The TN DGE has meticulously planned the exam days to ensure smooth execution. Each exam day will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the first ten minutes dedicated to reading the question papers. From 10:10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., students will be given time to verify their answer sheets, followed by the actual exam from 10:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. This uniform schedule is designed to provide consistency for all students. The practical exams for different classes will be conducted prior to the main exams, from February 7 to February 28, 2025.
The complete exam schedule, covering both the Higher Secondary First and Second Year and SSLC exams, includes subject-wise dates. This comprehensive timetable helps students map out their study schedules, making it easier to manage revision and subject coverage.
Detailed Subject-Wise Schedule for 2025 Exams
For Class 12 students, the exams will kick off with Tamil and other Indian languages on March 3, 2025, and end with subjects like Physics, Economics, and Employability Skills on March 25, 2025. Similarly, the Class 11 exams will commence with Tamil and other languages on March 5, 2025, and conclude with Chemistry, Accountancy, and Geography on March 27, 2025. The Class 10 SSLC exams will follow a similar structure, starting with Tamil and other languages on March 28, 2025, and finishing with Social Science on April 15, 2025.

Reflecting on the previous year's performance, Tamil Nadu saw impressive results in both Class 10 and Class 12 exams. In 2024, of the 8,94,264 Class 10 students who took the exam, 8,18,743 passed, with a near-equal participation of boys and girls. The Class 12 exams saw 7,60,606 students appear, with an outstanding 94.56% overall pass rate. These statistics highlight the dedication of students and the quality of education in Tamil Nadu.
