TISS to Incorporate CAT 2024 Scores for More Postgraduate Courses in 2025

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has announced a significant change in its admission process for the 2025-26 academic year. TISS will now incorporate Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 scores for admission into three additional postgraduate programs, marking a pivotal shift in how the institute selects candidates.

TISS to Incorporate CAT 2024 Scores for More PG

In recent years, TISS has admitted students to all undergraduate and graduate programs through its entrance exam, the TISS National Entrance Test (TISS NET). Last year, TISS made a significant upgrade and opted to accept scores from the Common University Entrance Test Postgraduate (CUET PG) for all programs, except for two postgraduate courses. The Master of Arts in Organization Development, Change, and Leadership and the Master of Arts in Human Resource Management and Labour Relations were the two exceptions, where CAT scores were substituted.

Expanded Use of CAT Scores:

In a further expansion of this approach, CAT 2024 scores will now also be used for admission into the Master of Hospital Administration, in addition to the aforementioned two programs. This change is aimed at streamlining the admission process and ensuring a consistent standard of assessment across these highly competitive courses.

Registration Process and Important Details:

The registration for CAT 2024 is currently ongoing, with the deadline set for September 13. Prospective candidates are required to complete their registration through the official CAT website, iimcat.ac.in. The application fee is ₹2,500, with a concession fee of ₹1,250 for applicants from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories.

CAT is widely recognized as the standard entrance exam for postgraduate management programs and doctoral programs at the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). However, many non-IIM institutions, including TISS, have also adopted CAT scores as a part of their admission process.

The Transition from CUET PG to CAT:

Previously, TISS had implemented CUET PG scores for all its programs, except for the two postgraduate courses mentioned above. The new decision to expand the use of CAT scores to additional programs reflects TISS's commitment to maintaining rigorous standards while embracing broader entrance criteria.

Importance of the Change:

This strategic move by TISS signifies an important step in aligning the institute's admission criteria with other prestigious institutions in India, ensuring that it attracts the best talent from across the country. The integration of CAT scores highlights TISS's adaptability and dedication to providing quality education through transparent and efficient admission processes.

What Prospective Students Need to Know?:

Prospective students are encouraged to stay informed about any further announcements by regularly visiting the TISS admissions website at admissions.tiss.edu. This will help them stay updated on application procedures, important deadlines, and any other relevant details.

TISS's decision to incorporate CAT scores more broadly demonstrates the institute's ongoing commitment to excellence and its proactive approach to evolving its admission process to better serve a diverse and talented pool of applicants.
