Ongoing Process

Each year, the Civil Services Examinations (CSE) are held by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in order to directly select candidates for these desired civil service positions, such as IAS, IPS, IFS, and IRS. The Union Public Service Commission meets with state governments to form selection committees to fill openings in the IAS and IPS promotion quota, according to the minister.

The government has boosted the annual intake of IAS officers through the CSE to 180 through CSE-2022, according to Singh. From CSE-2020, the IPS intake has been increased to 200. IFS enrollment will increase to 150 in 2022. Through CSE-2023, the Department of Revenue has reported 301 openings that need to be filled.
