TET Certificate Validity Extended To A Lifetime From 7 Years

Union Government has extended the validity of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) certificate to a lifetime. It has revised the existing 7 years of the TET certificate validity period to life in view of benefiting candidates who are aspiring to make a career in the teaching field. This will be positive news for teacher aspirants that increases employment opportunities. Union Education Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' has confirmed that the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) certificate or scorecard will now be valid for life.

Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank tweeted, "Validity period of Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualifying certificate has been extended from 7 years to lifetime with retrospective effect from 2011. Respective State Govts./UTs to take necessary action to re-validate/issue fresh certificates to candidates whose period of 7 years elapsed already. This is a positive step in increasing employment opportunities in the teaching field."

"Government has decided to extend the validity period of Teachers Eligibility Test qualifying certificate from 7 years to lifetime with retrospective effect from 2011. The respective State Govts. /UTs will take necessary action to revalidate/issue fresh TET certificates to those candidates whose period of 7 years has already elapsed, the official statement reads.

Last year, the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has decided to extend the validity of CTET score card for lifetime. Candidates can use their CTET passing certificate without any time limit. This facility would have a prospective effect and for those who have already passed out (already having a TET certificate).

Candidates who aspire to become a teacher should possess a bachelor's degree from a recognized university along with a degree in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or teacher training program/course. The minimum age limit is 18 and the maximum age limit is 35 years.

Every year, CBSE conducts the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) twice a year. The qualified candidates will be eligible for the teaching positions from Class 1 to 8 in central government schools such as Kendriya Vidyalaya, Central Tibetan Schools and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and schools under the administrative control of the Union Territories.
