The newly established Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Odisha will have its temporary campus likely to be in Bhubaneswar. According to the reports, the permanent campus will be located either at Tarboi near Argul or Jatni or Khurda.
Odisha government will seek the central government permission to set up the temporary campus for time being in Bhu8baneswar. In July 2014, HRD Ministry has sent a statement to government to submit a list of 3 locations for the IIM. Ministry will finalyse the one of the locations after a visit to the sites.
Central government had already requested the state govt to allot a litigation free 200 acres of land for the establishment of IIM in the state.
The development comes on the day the Centre set a 15-day deadline for the governments of Odisha, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh to suggest possible sites for IIMs as well as temporary campuses where classes can start next July.
The Industrial and Infrastructural Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO) has already forwarded the reports of the collectors of seven districts, Cuttack, Khurda, Ganjam, Sambalpur, Koraput, Puri and Sundargarh, on the choice of possible sites for the proposed Indian Institute of Management in the state to the Employment and Technical Education and Training (ET&T) department.
The ET&T department has already set up a high-level committee to study the proposals by the district collectors. After studying these reports, the Employment and Technical Education and Training department would submit a final report to the state government on the best possible sites for the proposed IIM.
