Telangana Schools & Colleges to Remain Closed Tomorrow, September 25: Check Areas

Schools and colleges in Hyderabad, Secunderabad and specified adjoining areas of Telangana will remain closed tomorrow, Friday, September 25, 2026, following a holiday declared by the Telangana government. The holiday has been announced in view of the Ganesh idol immersion procession scheduled across the twin cities.

According to the government order issued by the General Administration (Special) Department, the closure will apply to government offices, schools and colleges located in and around Hyderabad-Secunderabad, as well as the adjoining areas of Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts.

Telangana Holiday on September 25: Areas Covered

The holiday is applicable to institutions falling within the areas specified in the official notification. Students, parents and staff members should check with their respective schools or colleges if they are located close to the notified boundaries.

The decision has been taken considering the large-scale Ganesh immersion procession, which is expected to attract significant public participation and affect normal traffic and public movement in Hyderabad and surrounding areas.

November 14 Will Be a Working Day

As compensation for the holiday on September 25, November 14, 2026, which falls on the second Saturday, will be observed as a working day for the government offices, schools and colleges covered by the order.

This arrangement has been made to compensate for the working day lost due to the declared holiday. The provision applies specifically to the institutions and offices covered by the notification.

Why Are Schools and Colleges Closed Tomorrow?

The Ganesh idol immersion procession is expected to involve large crowds and increased movement of people and vehicles. The holiday is intended to facilitate the smooth conduct of the procession and help authorities manage traffic, crowd movement and public safety in the affected locations.

The order was issued by Sanjay Jaju, Chief Secretary to the Government of Telangana, by order and in the name of the Governor of Telangana.

Students should note that the September 25 closure is a location-specific holiday, not a statewide closure for every school and college in Telangana. Institutions outside the notified areas should follow their respective schedules.
