The country's top court, Supreme Court has allowed the medical aspirants aged above 25 years to apply for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Undergraduate (UG) 2019 exam. It has also added that their admission will be subjected to the final outcome of the case on the validity of CBSE's decision to fix the upper age limit.
The apex court has also asked the organising body, National Testing Agency (NTA) to extend the last date to apply for the NEET UG 2019 by one week. NTA has released the NEET UG 2019 notification and started accepting the application forms from November 1. The last date to apply for NEET UG 2019 is November 30, which is likely to be extended after the Supreme Court order.
NTA has released a public notice regarding removal of upper age limit and extended the last date to apply online for NEET UG 2019. According to the latest notice, candidates can apply for NEET UG till December 7, 2019. However, candidates born on or before December 31, 2002, can also apply for NEET UG 2019.

The upper age limit and the number of attempts were introduced in 2017. Since then, students made a number of protests. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), then the organising body, had fixed that a candidate could appear for NEET for a total of three times. It has also kept the upper age limit at 25 years.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which was vested with the power to conduct the NEET along with other entrance exams such as JEE Main and UGC NET, will be conducting the NEET UG for the first time. The NEET UG will take place on May 5, 2019.
