Supreme Court cancels AIPMT, directs CBSE to reconduct the exam

In the most awaited verdict, the Supreme Court of India on Monday cancelled the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) for the year 2015-16, and has directed CBSE to reconduct the exam.

The verdict is declared following the alleged irregularities in the exam.

According to TOI,"A bench of justices headed by R K Agrawal and Amitava Roy directed the CBSE to conduct fresh test within four weeks."

The Supreme court's decision to re-conduct the AIPMT will affect over 6.3 lakh medical aspiring students, who are expected to take the test in order to get admission in colleges.

The re-examination is ordered after police failed to track out all the erring students. The court said that entire exam process stood vitiated due to the cheating leaving it with no option but to scrap the exam.

The CBSE conducts AIPMT for admission to MBBS courses in medical colleges across India.
