The summer placement session at the IIM Bangalore concluded with 130 firms making 400 offers to the Post Graduate Program (PGP) in Management students.
These students will take up internship during April-May, 2015. Amazon and Accenture made the majority of offers. More than 35 students will intern at firms overseas. The summer placement session was conducted from October 31, to November 4, 2014.
The top recruiting sector was Management Consulting, followed by Sales & Marketing, Banking & Finance as well as General Management.
Many technology firms also took part in the placements and offered unique roles to the students From the E-commerce sector, Amazon extended 19 offers and Flipkart 10. Snapdeal took part in the placements for the first time. The retail firm Alshaya, based in the middle-east, extended 12 offers for foreign locations. As per reports, the students also showed preference for start-ups compared to regular recruiters.
As per reports, the section-wise break-up of the summer placement offers made at IIM Bangalore show Management Consulting hired 23%, Sales & Marketing 20.25%, Banking & Finance 20 %, General Management 12.25%, Operation 10% and Information Technology and Corporate Finance hired 12%.
Sector-wise, Conglomerates hired 11%, Retail 3%, E-commerce 9.5%, Technology 12% and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) hired 8%.
Last year's summer placements saw 135 hirers making 398 internship offers. Altogether 403 students of the 2013-15 batch took part. According to institute officials, the number of participants was actually not lesser this year as around 160 recruiters visited the campus. However, the number of offers surpassed the number of students.
