President Droupadi Murmu has nominated Sudha Murty, the chairperson of the Murty Trust and a renowned philanthropist, to the Rajya Sabha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended this nomination and lauded Ms. Murty's significant contributions to various domains.

In his message, Mr. Modi highlighted Sudha Ji's remarkable work in fields such as social welfare, philanthropy, and education, describing it as immense and inspiring. He expressed confidence that her presence in the Rajya Sabha symbolizes the empowerment of women, showcasing their strength and potential in shaping the destiny of our nation.
The President of India has nominated 12 individuals to the Upper House of Parliament in recognition of their exceptional contributions to arts, literature, sciences, and social services.
Murty, the spouse of Infosys co-founder N R Narayana Murthy, is a renowned author who has made significant contributions to both English and Kannada literature. She retired from her position as the chairperson of the Infosys Foundation on December 31 last year.
Upon her nomination to the Rajya Sabha, she expressed to ANI, "I am pleased and simultaneously sense an increased responsibility. It is very gracious of him (PM Modi) to acknowledge my efforts, and I am grateful to him. I am delighted to have a larger platform to serve the underprivileged."
