Classes were boycotted by the students of the Tiruvannamalai Government Arts and Science College, affiliated to Tiruvalluvar University (TU), on Thursday. The students staged a display criticizing the University for publishing the error laden examination results on its official website.
Students listed out the errors found in the examination results for undergraduate and postgraduate courses which were conducted in the November and December 2013, that were published online on 10th March, 2014. They said that it shocked them to find that despite the fact that they had attended the exams, many of them were marked as absent in internal and external examinations. Many others expressed their frustration about being assigned single digit marks. While they were many who were awarded marks for out-of-syllabus questions.
"I have also sent a circular to Heads of Departments (HoD) in the college to collect the information from the students in their respective department on the errors. After collecting them, we will send them to the Controller of Examination of the university for rectification," said the Principal of the college, M Subramanian.
