Essential Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or Institute.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Minimum one-year research experience in any recognized university or recognized research institution.
  • Degree in Law or Human Rights from a recognized university.

Educational Qualification Requirements for SSC-CGL 2024

  • For all other posts under SSC-CGL: A Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or equivalent is required.
  • Candidates who have appeared in their final year of graduation can also apply, provided they possess the essential qualification by the cut-off date, i.e., August 1, 2024.

Recognition of Degrees

As per the Ministry of Human Resource Development notification dated June 10, 2015, all degrees, diplomas, and certificates awarded through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode by universities established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature, deemed universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956, and institutions of national importance declared under an Act of Parliament are automatically recognized for employment under the Central Government, provided they are approved by the Distance Education Bureau, UGC.

Degrees obtained through ODL mode must be recognized for the period during which the qualification was acquired. Candidates with such degrees must produce the approval given to the university by the Distance Education Bureau, UGC, for the relevant period during document verification.

Restrictions

According to UGC (Open and Distance Learning) Regulations, 2017, programs in engineering, medicine, dental, nursing, pharmacy, architecture, and physiotherapy are not permitted under ODL mode. However, the Supreme Court Order dated March 11, 2019, validated B. Tech. degrees/diplomas in Engineering awarded by IGNOU to students enrolled up to the academic year 2009-10.

Document Verification

Candidates called for document verification must produce original certificates such as mark sheets for all years/semesters of graduation, provisional certificates, and degree certificates as proof of having acquired the minimum educational qualification by the cut-off date. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of candidature.
Candidates must provide documentary evidence showing that the result of the qualifying examination was declared on or before the cut-off date and that they have been declared passed.

Equivalent Qualifications

Candidates with equivalent educational qualifications must produce relevant equivalence certificates from the concerned authorities during document verification. The final decision regarding their selection will be made by the respective User Departments/Appointing Authorities.
