Southern Railway has invited online applications for 4,308 Apprentice posts as part of its Apprentice Recruitment 2026 drive. Eligible candidates can apply through the official Southern Railway website - sr.indianrailways.gov.in. The online registration process is currently underway and the last date to submit applications is September 27, 2026.

The recruitment offers opportunities for candidates interested in apprenticeship training in various trades and categories under Southern Railway. Applicants should carefully check the prescribed educational qualifications, age limit and other conditions before completing the application process.
Candidates applying for the Apprentice posts must meet the educational and age requirements specified in the detailed notification. The minimum age prescribed for applicants is 15 years.
Candidates applying under the Freshers and Ex-ITI categories should not have completed 22 years of age, while candidates applying for MLT positions should not have completed 24 years of age, subject to the applicable rules.

Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend according to their category and educational qualification. The stipend details are:
During the second year of apprenticeship training, the prescribed minimum stipend will increase by 10%. A further 15% increase will be provided during the third year of apprenticeship training, as applicable.
Selection will be based on a merit list prepared from the applications received from eligible candidates. No separate competitive examination is mentioned for preparing the merit list.
For the Fresher category, matriculation marks will be converted to 200 marks, with candidates required to have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in matriculation.
For Ex-ITI candidates, matriculation and ITI marks will each be converted to 100 marks. The combined score will be calculated out of 200, giving equal weightage to both qualifications.
For MLT candidates, marks obtained in Higher Secondary with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology will be converted to 200 marks, subject to the prescribed minimum marks requirement.
The application fee is ₹100. Candidates must pay the fee online using debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI.
SC, ST, PwBD and women candidates are exempted from paying the application fee.
