Sikkim Schools, Colleges, And All Educational Institutions Closed Amid Rise In Covid-19 Cases

Amid the rise in Covid-19 cases across the state, Sikkim has closed all the educational institutions including schools and colleges till 31 May 2021. According to the notice issued by the Sikkim Education Department, schools and colleges in the state will remain shut in view of the ongoing pandemic situation till further order.

Sikkim Educational Institutions Closed

Earlier, the schools and colleges in Sikkim were closed till 30 April 2021. Now it will remain closed till 31 May 2021. The students don't have to come to the educational institutions to attend regular classes.

According to the statement by the Sikkim government, the teaching staff and other staffs have to operate with 50 percent occupancy and must have to come to the institutes. The online classes including teaching, assignments, and assessments, will be continued as per the format.

The teachers and other heads have to download Sikkim Edutech to reach out to the students on the digital platform. The Laptops with preloaded contents which are supplied to the institutes must be used for the online classes.

As per the reports, Sikkim recorded 148 new Covid-19 cases on 25 April 2021, taking the tally to 7,306. East Sikkim reported 126 new Covid-19 cases registering the highest followed by South and West Sikkim. Currently, there are 934 active cases in the State.
