Schools across India are slowly reopening amid the COVID-19 pandemic. States including Bihar, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh are reopening their schools from February 8, 2021.

Schools across India are slowly reopening after witnessing a steady fall in the active coronavirus cases. States including Bihar, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh are reopening their schools from February 8, 2021. All these states had earlier resumed regular classes for students who will be appearing in CBSE and State board exams. After the coronavirus outbreak and the imposition of lockdown, the schools were shut for over 10 months.

The State's Ministry has issued their respective COVID-19 guidelines for the schools to be followed strictly for the safety of students, teachers, and staff members. The several States including Gujarat, Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi reopened schools for higher classes on February 1. Earlier this week, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal had announced datesheet for CBSE Class 10 and 12 board exams 2021.

Bihar

In Bihar, the classes for students of Grade 6 to 8 resumed from February 8. The schools have been guided to ensure students' safety. The students will have to wear face masks and maintain social distance. The Bihar government has issued COVID-19 guidelines for the schools along with detailed operating procedures.

Odisha

Odisha reopened its schools with strict COVID-19 protocols for Classes 9 and 11. The classes will take place between 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM six days a week. Earlier the schools resumed their classes for Grades 10 and 12. The schools in Odisha were shut from March 2020 amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Rajasthan

The Rajasthan government has directed all the schools in the state to strictly follow COVID-19 guidelines. The schools reopen from today, February 8, for Classes 6 to 8 after 10 months of closure. The colleges have also been reopened along with schools for first and second-year students. The schools for Classes 9 to 12 and final year college and university students had already reopened.

Uttarakhand

The Uttarakhand state government has reopened schools for Classes 6 to 11 from February 8. The schools have appointed nodal officers for more safety. The classrooms will be sanitised on regular basis, there will be thermal screening, mask-wearing, and maintaining social-distancing. However, the students and teachers have been asked to ensure COVID-19 appropriate behaviour. Earlier, the state had reopened its schools for Classes 10 and 12 in November 2020.

Uttar Pradesh

Schools across Uttar Pradesh are reopening from February 10 for Classes 6 to 8. The State government has asserted that the schools shall take necessary measures and follow COVID-19 protocols. The Classes for Grades 1 to 5 will begin from March 1.
