Prayagraj Schools Transition To Digital Learning For Maghi Purnima Events

To accommodate the vast number of pilgrims gathering for Maghi Purnima, secondary schools across all boards in Prayagraj will pause in-person lessons from February 7 to February 12, transitioning to digital platforms for instruction, as officials have confirmed. This measure was initiated by the District Magistrate of Prayagraj, directing the District Inspector of Schools, to mitigate the challenges students may encounter while traveling during this time. The directive ensures that online teaching will proceed uninterrupted for all pupils, while teachers are required to be present in schools to oversee existing practical and home assessments.

With the observance of Maghi Purnima, a key bathing day, set for February 12, preparations are in full swing to manage the anticipated congregation of devotees. This festival has historically seen a large turnout, with more than 77.20 lakh individuals participating in the holy ritual at the Sangam up until 8 PM on a recent Thursday. Since January 13, the Maha Kumbh has drawn approximately 40 crore worshippers, underscoring the significance of this period and the logistical considerations it necessitates.

In a similar move to Prayagraj, the Varanasi district administration announced the closure of schools in urban locales due to an uptick in pilgrim numbers visiting the city. The decision mandates that schools provide remote education for students up to class 8 until the following Saturday, aiming to alleviate the potential overcrowding and commuting hardships. This action reflects the broader challenges faced by cities near Prayagraj, approximately 120 km from Varanasi, as they navigate the influx of visitors for the Maha Kumbh.
