School Holiday Today? Check Latest State-wise Updates for October 9, 2026

Parents are asking if schools are shut today. As of Friday, October 9, 2026, there is no nationwide school holiday, and regular classes are planned in most states. Telangana is the notable exception from tomorrow, with an announced Dasara break beginning October 10. Today remains a working day unless your district authority issues a local order.

If you live in a rain‑hit area, rely on district‑level advisories, not forwards. Kerala and Uttarakhand often declare closures by the Collector or District Magistrate on official pages. In Delhi‑NCR, there is no blanket holiday today; depend on Directorate of Education notices and school circulars or SMS.

Oct 9 school holiday status: what to expect today

Most boards and schools are running on schedule today. States plan their festive breaks closer to Dussehra on October 20, so October 9 is not a gazetted closure. Verify only through state education sites, district handles, or your school ERP to avoid misinformation circulating on social media.

Telangana Dasara break: Oct 10–22; schools reopen Oct 23

Telangana has notified a 13‑day Dasara vacation for all schools, across managements, from October 10 to 22. Classes resume on Friday, October 23. Summative Assessment‑I concludes today; Class IX English is scheduled in the forenoon, as per the revised timetable. Junior colleges close October 10–21 and reopen October 22.

Rain closures: Kerala and Uttarakhand verification checklist

District Collectors in Kerala and District Magistrates in Uttarakhand issue same‑day orders on rain holidays based on India Meteorological Department alerts. Check the Collector’s Facebook or X page, district website, police handles, and state education portals before leaving home. Media recaps of recent closures confirm this protocol, but orders vary by district.

Delhi‑NCR school holiday today: what official calendars show

Delhi’s official 2026 holiday schedule lists October 2 and October 20 as closures, not October 9. There is no citywide school holiday today. Still, individual schools may issue brief notices for events or weather. Monitor the DoE circulars page and your school’s ERP or WhatsApp group.

Oct 10 weekend and Dasara schedules: tonight’s update

Expect evening updates on Saturday arrangements, Telangana’s vacation rollout, and any exam reschedules where rain disrupted assessments. Parents should track district handles and school ERPs after 7 pm, when many orders post. Telangana schools reopen October 23 after the Dasara break; plan travel and study timetables accordingly. We will refresh these details tonight.
