The Supreme Court has announced its decision on the UGC final-year exam. The Apex Court said that students of final-year cannot be promoted based on the alternative assessment. However, the States can postpone the final year exams of University and ask the UGC for extension of its deadline, i.e., September 30.

The Supreme Court of India has decided to uphold the UGC's July 6 circular to hold final year exams of University. States must conduct the exams to promote final year students. However, it can postpone the final year exams under the Disaster Management Act in view of COVID-19 pandemic. States should consult the UGC to fix exam dates.

The sources suggest that the Apex Court its verdict regarding UGC's Guidelines on August 28.

ANI tweeted, "Supreme Court to pronounce tomorrow the verdict on a batch of pleas challenging UGC's July 6 circular and seeking cancellation of final term examination in view of COVID-19 situation."

Supreme Court On UGC Guidelines - August 26 Highlights

The decision regarding the final decision on UGC Exam Guidelines 2020 regarding conducting of the final year university examinations delayed. The Supreme Court of India is not going to announce the verdict today. The matter related to UGC is not listed in the cause list for August 26. Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava has confirmed the same through his official twitter.

The Supreme Court has not announced its decision today, i.e., August 24. It further extended the verdict regarding the UGC Final Year University Exams to August 26. The verdict date has been shared and is only tentative.

The apex court has reserved its judgement and asked for the parties to submit their responses in writing on August 18. The Court has postponed the decision to August 24.

  • The intermediate students (1st & 2nd year) will be promoted to the final year based on the internal assessment.
