Under The Peepal Tree Concludes As A Grand Success
The 2014 edition of "Under The Peepal Tree", was met with great enthusiasm and the quizmasters received rave reviews for their quizzes. Proceedings started on 20th March, Thursday with the morning staple, Indigenius - the India quiz. This quiz saw a huge turnout, of around 1000 odd students, resulting in a packed auditorium. UTPT had a wonderful turnout from around 50 different colleges from Karnataka, in addition to IIM Bangalore, IIT Madras, Vellore Institute of Technology, NIT Trichy, NALSAR Hyderabad, NLSIU Bangalore, GEC Thrissur and PES University, Bangalore.

The next quiz of the day, was Sakkath Sawaal - The Karnataka Quiz. This quiz featured for the first time in the quiz fest, and attracted many people, especially from the state of Karnataka. For the first time in many years, the finals featured students of RVCE. The finalists thoroughly enjoyed racking their brains over vaguely familiar concepts and funda, which was good to see. Such was the response of this quiz that, RV QuizCorp will feature it in upcoming editions of UTPT. The third quiz on Day 1, was the Sci-Biz-tech quiz, a quiz on Science, Business and Technology. Questions varied from the large hadron collider in CERN to 3D printers to science experiments. Participants were seen to be in deep thought, while answering these questions.

Moving on to Day 2, March 21st, Friday, the quizzes in store were the finals of Sakkath Sawaal, Game Theory - the sports quiz, and Lieut-en-Ent - the literature and entertainment quiz. The sports quiz, as always brought huge crowd, showing the sport crazy nature of college students. The prelims and finals were again, well received and appreciated by the finalists and the audience alike. Onwards to the Lieut-en-Ent quiz, a quiz appealing to the art buffs, TV series aficionados and movie lovers. A highly competitive and enjoyable quiz followed, with loads of banter and laughter ensuing.

Day 3, March 22nd, Saturday featured a TV series quiz, which by all means was a fun affair, testing the in-depth knowledge possessed by participants on varied topics ranging from The Flintstones to Friends. Day 4, March 23rd, Sunday, was the final day of the fest. The quizzes lined up for the day were two general quizzes, one called the Major quiz - a general quiz for college students, and the Magnum Open - an open quiz for anyone and everyone. General quizzes can consist of anything, and participants in the Major quiz showcased a huge knowledge of things, something to be admired.

The Magnum Open was the highlight of Under The Peepal Tree 2014. Held at the NMKRV Auditorium in Jayanagar, the quiz attracted people from across India, people of all ages and walks of life. The quizmaster of the event was Nitish Khadiya, an alumnus of RV QuizCorp. Plaudits and appreciation followed the quiz, making it a momentous occasion.
