Right to Education (RTE) resource centre will be launched by Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) on the campus. This initiative is taken to encourage supportable development of the primary education establishments in India.
The Eklavya RTE resource centre will be instigated in alliance with Ravi J. Matthai Centre for Educational Innovation of IIMA.
The student-run Public Policy SIG of the institute and the social initiative of IIMA- Prayaas have come together to initiate the Centre.
All children have a right to full time fundamental education of adequate and unbiased quality in a formal school, this is what the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009 means. The Ekalavya Resource Centre proposes to raise consciousness toward education for children.
One of the faculty advisors for the project will be served by Professor Ankur Sarin, Public Systems Group.
"Inclusive Institutions in Elementary Education" will be the theme for a national conference that is planned to be held in November by the centre. IIMA'S students and faculty will organise this conference jointly.
NGOs, RTE Pioneers, public and private Schools, leaders of community, officials from government, academicians and other stakeholders in fundamental education would be expected to take be present at the conference.
Academicians and government officials belonging to different levels will address the gathering with the key note. This will be followed by group discussion among principals of school, parents and various NGOs.
The obstacles faced by schools in administration of RTE will be discuses along with creative solutions.
25% of quotas in public schools and the infrastructure related problems will be discussed as well.
