What Happens After CBT 1?

The RRB ALP CBT 1 results are crucial because they decide who advances to the next stage of testing. Candidates who successfully clear this stage will move on to the Computer-Based Test 2 (CBT 2), which dives deeper into the technical skills required for the role. Additionally, those who pass CBT 2 will face the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), a key assessment to evaluate a candidate's practical aptitude for working as a loco pilot.

Understanding the Selection Process

  • Stage 1: CBT 1 - The first stage of the exam assesses general knowledge, reasoning, and arithmetic skills. The results of this exam will decide who moves forward to the next round.
  • Stage 2: CBT 2 - The second stage is technical, testing candidates on their specific knowledge and skills related to the role of an Assistant Loco Pilot. This stage is crucial as it determines the candidate's technical proficiency.
  • Stage 3: CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test) - This test evaluates the practical skills of candidates, with particular attention to their ability to handle real-world challenges encountered by Assistant Loco Pilots.

Expected Cut-off Marks

The cut-off marks for RRB ALP CBT 1 are expected to vary based on the overall difficulty of the exam and the number of candidates who appear for it. While exact cut-offs can only be confirmed after the results, candidates can get a rough idea by looking at previous year's trends. Here are some projected cut-off ranges:

  • Reserved Categories: 55-65
  • OBC: 45-55
  • SC: 40-30
  • ST: 35-25

It's important to note that these ranges are speculative and could change depending on the final evaluation criteria and other factors.

How is the Scoring Done?

The ALP CBT 1 exam consists of 75 marks, and to ensure fairness across multiple exam sessions, the board applies a normalization process. This ensures that candidates are assessed equally, regardless of when or where they took the test. The final score is calculated based on the raw score, with adjustments for difficulty level made accordingly.

In Case of a Tie:

In the event of a tie, where two or more candidates score the same marks, the tie-breaking criterion is based on the candidate's age, with the older candidate being preferred. This ensures a fair and transparent merit list.

Document Verification and Final Selection

Once candidates clear CBT 2 and CBAT, they will undergo a document verification process to confirm their eligibility and qualifications. The final merit list will be prepared based on a weighted average of scores from:

  • Part A of CBT 2 (70%)
  • CBAT (30%)

The final selected candidates will receive an appointment for the Assistant Loco Pilot position, where they will be tasked with the important role of overseeing and operating locomotives for Indian Railways.

Good luck to all the candidates, and may your hard work lead to success!
